The Theewaterskloof dam
in South Africa
is an earth-fill type dam
on the river
''without an end''.

By 1673 the river
is referred to
as ''sine fine flumen''
and by 1707,
a Dutch East India Company horticulturalist
referred to it
as the Kanna-Kan Kann,
likely derived from
the Hesequa,
a local tribe herdsman,
Kamma-Kan Kamma,
meaning roughly
''water, endless water.''
